The concept of the KOMAMECHAN False Bait Head is to catch the ultra-small “micro” small horse mackerel (Gokumame), that is, even smaller bean fish in the size range of 10 cm or less, the very small horse mackerel. We started with the theme of designing a new product that would specialize in catching these very small fish.

The development process was guided and supervised by the company’s two field commanders. Since the main markets for this new product are Kansai and Hokuriku, we invited instructors from Kansai and Hokuriku to participate in the development process. Based on the hook shape used in regular tandems, the hook shape had been tested many times, and everyone knew “which shape was best,” but the original concept had to be reworked immediately for the target, the very small horse mackerel.
After much trial and error, we found that an open hook was not suitable for the very small horse mackerel, whose skin is soft and easily dislodged, so we changed to a closed hook, which improved the holding power and made the hook more secure, and also made it more secure by selecting the tip position.
Thus was born a product that looks as classic as it did 10 years ago.

The “Komame-chan” bait head also has a larger thread diameter than “THE MAME,” making it harder to loosen on soft, delicate skin.
